Petty Grievances And Tiny Delights

Friday, August 27th, 2010

Yet another list… because I am not in the mood to structure paragraphs.

The following things annoy me:

  • My brother is once again friends with my ex-husband on facebook
  • Despite my best efforts, I am still not divorced from said ex-husband
  • My flatmate will clean her own mess in the kitchen but not put a glass I used in the dishwasher, despite the fact that I constantly clean up after her - childish much?
  • And she constantly short changes me on our bills… half of $425 is not $207 for fucks sake!
  • The more guys I date, the more convinced I am that all men are either selfish, untrustworthy, ignorant, rude, condescending, intolerant, mysogynistic or worst of all… BORING!

The following things please me:

  • My Jane Austen note cards arrived today and they are so adorably quaint I could just die!
  • I am over half way through my 18th book for the year
  • I am so glad my sister has a Blackberry now - using the BB messenger to chat to her is crazy cool
  • I have a bag of mini M&Ms… awesome!
  • Tomorrow will be a day of lunch and movies and girly indulgence with my 2 favourite women, and I cant wait!

The Top 10 Things I Want

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

So far today, most of my thoughts have begun with the words “I want…”. Here are 10 of them, off the top of my head, in no particular order.

  1. I want my 16GB USB stick back
  2. I want to play Plants Vs Zombies instead of doing work
  3. I want to go have coffee with that cute guy I just met
  4. I want more time to get my uni study done
  5. I want my fucking textbook to arrive already!
  6. I want new bedsheets, bright blue ones
  7. I want to start running again, as soon as the weather warms up
  8. I want to have a long hot bath
  9. I want to stop coughing
  10. I want to finish this book I’m reading so I can watch the movie version

I’m not asking too much of the world, am I?

Mondays Suck Because…

Monday, June 28th, 2010
  • I had a headache at 9am… and still had the same headache at 6pm
  • I did so much work today, but a distinct lack of appreciation makes it feel like a waste of my time and effort
  • I hate the feeling of not being able to trust my friends… when there are 2 opposing views, I should be able to trust one of them right? So why cant I?
  • Sometimes you just want to hear someone say “I think you’re fabulous, there is no one else as good as you” and it sucks when no one does
Other than that, it was a good day.

A Few Brilliant Things About This Weekend

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

I woke up on Saturday morning and there was something different in the air… I just knew it was going to be a fantastic weekend. And you know what? It was! :)

  • A week ago I found a drivers licence on the ground outside the train station. I returned it to the owner; a good deed that cost me the price of a stamp and very little inconvenience. She posted me a little notebook and a thank you card! How sweet was that?
  • The lovely Ash Hansen, who fronted one of my favourite bands back in the day, sent me a copy of his new EP as a thank you gift. There is nothing more wonderful than having talented and generous friends!
  • I bought a new little compact digital camera (a hot pink one! WOO!) for like $90 from BIG W. Now I don’t have to choose between taking my DSLR everywhere or missing wonderful moments. YAY!
  • Last night all my friends arrived safely - Nicky and Tammy from Melbourne, and Kelly from Newcastle, and together with my sister and her husband, and a few random others, we gathered to watch the Roller Derby at the Hordern. It was ace fun as usual, even though the D’viants were thrashed by the Screaming Assault Sirens (108 - 51). It was a great game.
  • The after party was hella good too.
  • I woke up from an amazing dream this morning and was in a good mood all day. Isn’t it weird how something so simple like that can have such a profound effect on your day?
  • When I went up to the supermarket, there was a couple with a baby in their trolley who didn’t realise the only way back up to the car park was via the stairs. I offered to help them with their bags even though I had several of my own, so one of them could carry the baby and take the trolley back to the store. They were a really nice young couple, stunned that a complete stranger was so willing to help them. I love being the person who brightens someone’s day.
  • Also while at the supermarket, a saw a stranger smile after reading my shirt. It was a special moment ;)
  • I made myself a chicken laksa for dinner… early dinner. I ate at like 4pm, so now that its barely past 7, it feels really late, and the thought of snuggling up on the lounge to watch a DVD and work on knitting my newest beanie is utterly delicious.
  • Ice magic on ice cream. Enough said!
